In Loving Memory of

Joseph David Clinkscales was born in South Carolina on January 1, 1914.. His parents were Feaster and Carrie Gordon Clinkscales.

He was one of nine children. Eunice Lomax, Ida Valentine, Lilly Wiley, and Carrie Wise, James, Ernest, Jessie, John and Ruth Preceded him in death.

He departed this life on Sunday, March 22, 1992 at Jamaica Hospital, Jamaica, New NY.

Joseph was baptized at St. Mary's Baptist Church in Due West, South Carolina and grew in a close loving relationship with his family that remained until the end.

In 1936, he moved to New York where he met and married Sallie McAllister, of Anderson, South Carolina. His children are Alberta Robertson, Joseph Clinkscales Jr. James Clinkscales, Sandra Ifill, and Joan Porterfield.

"Joe, Jerry or J.D.," as his friends called him, served in the U.S. Army. He worked for 32 years for the L.I.R.R. as a foreman.

After retiring he travelled extensively all over the world. His greatest joy was planning a trip, loading his camera, and taking anyone of the grandchildren along, especially Omar.

Daddy was a master of almost anything he touched. He cooked, cleaned, sewed, fixed anything that was broken, created, invented, and always had a project under way, even at our expense.

Daddy could do anything "his way".

He touched active member of Community Baptist Church. Under Rev. Williams, he was an active member of the Male Chorus until he was too weak to attend.

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife of 52 years, Sallie, his sisters Eunice Lomax and Ida Valentine of NY. Carrie and brother-in-law Charles Wise of Pennsylvania; his children, "Bert, Joe, jimmy, Sandy, and Joanie" sons and daughters-in-law, Philip, Pauline, Hazel, Antonio and Willie.

Sisters and brother-in-law, Walter Anderson of South Carolina, William and Bernice Johnson of South Carolina, Booker T. and Zadie Jackson of North Carolina, Herman Riley of NY, Claytoe Blackwell of Georgia, Richard and Ruth Brown of South Carolina, and William and Lilla McIntyre of California, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grands, and friends.

Dad will be missed, but we know he deseres to rest in His eternal arms.
